Pioi Coastal Station wouldn’t be what it is without the people behind it. Wendy & Smythy are the heart of Pioi, proudly caring for the land, the animals and the many little details that make this place so special. With a deep connection to the station and the coast, they love sharing their corner of the world with guests and welcoming people into the Pioi way of life.

Pioi is more than somewhere to stay — it's an opportunity to experience a special part of the Taranaki coast. Rooted in the history and heritage of the station, we are passionate about preserving the land while welcoming guests to experience its wild beauty, peaceful surroundings and simple way of life. Come for the coast, stay for the stillness.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful getaway, an adventure by the sea or simply somewhere to escape the everyday, there are plenty of ways to make yourself at home. Stay in The Coast House, perched 30 metres above the sea, settle into one of our River Cottages, or experience the unique charm of The Woolshed. Each space offers its own character, with the beauty and tranquillity of Pioi right outside your door.

With the coastline on your doorstep, days can be spent exploring beaches, discovering hidden corners of the station, enjoying the river or taking in the views from the comfort of your accommodation. As evening settles in, slow things down, gather together and enjoy the stillness that comes with being somewhere truly away from it all.
